Guide to Door's and Window's
"Door - Pediments"

Pediments manufactured for use today are often produced from synthetic material that is designed to look like the traditional wooden designs used by Victorian and Georgian architects. Polyurethane pediments are made with molds that are just as detailed as the careful carpentry of a craftsman.
A pediment began in classic architecture as the decorative triangular structure, or gable, found above the horizontal surface (roof) atop the columns in a Greek or Roman temple. These pediments were often used for ornate and beautifully carved friezes, medallions or religious symbolism. Ancient structures also bear them over window openings.
