Vinyl Shutters
Why have shutters on your house? What are the advantages of shutters
and the advantages of vinyl shutters over wood shutters?
Shutters for
the windows on the outside of your home give your house an attractive,
finished look. Exterior shutters come in many styles,
including raised panel, louvered, and board and batten. What type
of style should you choose? If the siding on your house is board
and batten, you might want to choose accompanying board and batten
style shutters. However, you might like to contrast your board and
batten siding with louvered shutters. It is a design choice up to
you. |

What are the advantages of exterior vinyl shutters?
Vinyl shutters are usually less expensive than wood shutters. Vinyl
shutters will not rot, crack, or chip. Exterior vinyl shutters
are likely to be the home shutters of choice for houses in tropical
climates, as vinyl shutters are not adversely affected by moisture.
On the other hand, vinyl shutters are not available in every color
of the rainbow and cannot be stained. And, while exterior vinyl
shutters can be made to look like wood from a distance, most will
not withstand close inspection.
Interior shutters help control the atmosphere of your home. Shutters
are an attractive way to maintain your privacy. They are more flexible
than curtains as you can adjust the amount of light that you admit
from outside without completely sacrificing your privacy. Interior
house shutters also help to muffle outside noise. Vinyl shutters
inside of your home have the same advantages as do exterior vinyl
shutters.
Enjoy your new shutters, whether they are interior or exterior,
board and batten or raised panel. |
